Lankester Botanical Garden
The Lankester Botanical Garden is a research center specializing in the study and conservation of orchids with international prestige. It has a collection of 15,000 individuals of these plants and species from different countries. Additionally, by traveling its network of trails, you can observe areas of cacti, succulents, ferns, ginger plants, a regenerating forest, and the famous Japanese garden with over 20 species of bamboo. It is the highest volcano in Costa Rica (3432 m above sea level). Its main attraction is the view of the craters. Its blues-color lagoon is one of the iconic places in Costa Rica. It is one of the active volcanoes in Costa Rica. Its altitude is between 2500 and 3500 meters above
sea level. After a short walk from the parking lot, amid a cold mountain cloud forest, you can

The Tapantí National Park is a place with abundant precipitation. That condition makes it an ideal
habitat for various epiphyte species. The visitor could see many orchids and bromeliads on its
trees. Its vast extent (58,495 hectares) allows it to have at least five different life zones. In its
public area, visitors can enjoy trails amid a humid forest, consume food in one of its picnic areas, a

The name of this National Park is because it is part of the habitat of the Quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno), an almost threatened species. It is possible to observe them in the early months of the year. In addition, the visitors could appreciate oak forests (Quercus sp.), animals, and low-growing plants. Located in the center of the capital of Costa Rica, the National and Jade museums are the main attractions for those who want to learn about the country's history. The National Museum has rooms with exhibitions of objects from different eras of Costa Rica. Therefore, its butterfly garden and remnants of the old national army barracks. If you are interested in learning more about the times before the arrival of the Spanish in America, the Jade Museum has collections of pre Columbian jade objects. Plants and animals are a principal component of the rooms shown in this museum. It has five permanent rooms where you can admire vessels, personal artifacts, and weapons with archaeological interpretation.
