Rafael Acuña-Castillo is an Associate Professor at the University of Costa Rica (UCR) Biology Department, a researcher of the Biodiversity and Tropical Ecology research centre of UCR, and curator of the USJ Herbarium. He is broadly interested in the systematics, floristics, phylogtenetics and biogeography of plants especially of Loasaceae and aquatic clades.
